Reproductions

If you plan to make prints of an original artwork, it’s essential to start with an outstanding digital file. Depending on the size and medium of your artwork, the artwork needs to be scanned or photographed professionally, to create digital print-ready files that match the fine artwork.

Testimonial

Moving your art practice into the reproduction sphere can be a very smart business move for artists. Before selling the original artwork, creating a “copy” gives you the option to sell that artwork for life.

Our passive income took on a whole new role when we started offering more fine art archival reproductions with Paper Tides. There is nothing better than hearing from our customers that the quality is even better than they ever could have imagined. The proof is in the numbers - from 2020 to 2021 - we saw a 497% increase in sales!

The Process

Interested in working together? Inquire if the books are open to new reproduction work and provide all the information needed on our contact page.

After uploading a sample of your work, I will get back to you in 24 to 48 hours. If there is availability for new jobs, I will set up an appointment to bring original artwork to Paper Tides studio.

Note - before consulting Paper Tides to make reproductions, please determine the end result of your digital assets. For example, the size of reproductions, print goals, etc. Once a meeting is set to create reproductions, the process can look like the following:

  • Artwork is scanned or photographed (determined by original artwork size + medium) to create a print-ready digital file.

  • Paper Tides uses the digital file produced to make basic global corrections and color matching from internal test prints. This work is included in the service.

  • Files are sent to the client via Wetransfer and you receive a perfect 100% detailed print proof.

Paper Tides holds onto the high res. file for future print jobs, but is not responsible for the safekeeping of digital capture jobs.

  • You just received a print-ready file. Time to print. Print reproductions as a limited run, or one-offs (printing on demand is much more eco-friendly). Learn More >>>

FAQ :

  • Reproductions are individually priced - starting at $45. Each artwork has its own quirks that can determine the final price. Lots of white space? Discounted based on the artwork space. 3D or oil? Special attention is required, requiring a slightly higher fee.

    Minimum order amount of $65.00

  • Typically there is a 2-week minimum on reproduction work. Depending on the scale of the project and where it falls in the queue, the job could take closer to 4 weeks.

  • Based on the time commitment reproductions take, I cannot take on digital capture work, unless a client is also placing a print order.

I internally match your artwork to my printer and papers, therefore it’s the only way to determine whether you get the perfect (chef’s kiss) reproduction.

  • Currently, the books are closed to reproduction work.

There are select cases where there is an opening - so please do not hesitate to reach out! Please plan your project according to the “process” above, and send an example of your work.

  • Artwork under glass (or stuck to glass) can be photographed. The result is great, but not as optimal in sharpness as if there was no glass.

  • Flat artwork can be scanned up to 20” x 24” on the Epson flatbed scanner. Large artwork is photographed using high quality studio equipment.
